Find the Best Dividend Companies for Long-Term Income
Go beyond headline yield with Fintel’s Dividend Score—a 0–100 ranking designed to surface stronger long-term income candidates and expose potential yield traps.
Rank Dividend Stocks with More Context
A high yield can signal opportunity or risk. Compare the factors that help explain whether an income stream may be attractive and sustainable.
Dividend Yield
Compare annualized income relative to the current share price.
Dividend Growth
See whether a company has increased or reduced its dividend over time.
Payout Sustainability
Use cash payout data and company fundamentals to investigate dividend safety.
Dividend Score
Prioritize research with one 0–100 measure of income, growth, payment reliability, and financial safety.
A Better Starting Point Than Dividend Yield Alone
Dividend yield answers one question: how large is the annualized dividend relative to today’s share price? Dividend Score asks the more useful question for long-term investors: how attractive is that income after considering its growth, reliability, and financial support?
Income
Income measures the stock’s dividend yield relative to the global common-stock universe, providing market context for the current level of income.
Growth & Reliability
Growth measures three-year dividend growth relative to peers, while reliability reflects the consistency of payments over five years when sufficient history is available.
Financial Safety
Financial Safety measures the support for the dividend using cash-flow payout, earnings payout, and leverage.
Each company receives a score from 0 to 100: Income contributes 50%, Growth & Reliability 25%, and Financial Safety 25%. Distressed payout ratios cap the overall score at 20, while distressed leverage caps it at 40—helping prevent a tempting headline yield from masking weak financial support.
Raw Dividend Yield Can Mislead
A very high yield can result from a falling share price, an unusually large payment, or a dividend the business may struggle to maintain. Sorting by yield alone can push precisely these risks to the top of the list.
Dividend Score Adds the Missing Context
Dividend Score considers income alongside growth, payment reliability, and financial safety. The result is a more complete research ranking—not a promise of future performance, but a stronger way to screen long-term dividend candidates than raw yield alone.
